Meet Jesse Dee

Decades of wonder, laughter, and the unexpected.

It Started With a Coin

Jesse’s journey into magic began at seventeen, when he wandered into a magic shop and watched the magician behind the counter perform a trick with a coin.

Jesse went home, practiced what he thought he had been shown, and later returned to demonstrate it.   Somehow, the student managed to fool the magician who had started it all.

That moment gave Jesse what magicians affectionately call “the magic bug”—and he has been hooked ever since.

It didn’t take long for him to realize that practicing magic by himself wasn’t enough.   He wanted to share it.   He loved being in front of an audience, making people laugh and watching their expressions when something seemingly impossible happened before their eyes.

Magic gave him a way to create all of those moments at once.

A Place Where Magic Lives

Magic Castle performer since 1978

As Jesse became more serious about his craft, he learned that Hollywood’s legendary Magic Castle was where serious magicians aspired to be.

Becoming a member brought credibility.   And being invited to perform there was an even greater honor.

Jesse began performing at the Magic Castle in 1978.   Nearly five decades later, it remains a very special place to him and an important part of his life as a magician.

His career has also taken him beyond the Castle, including an appearance on Masters of Illusion, where he was able to share his magic with an audience far larger than the room in front of him.

Yet, Jesse will tell you that the size or prestige of an event does not necessarily make it memorable.   Some of his favorite performances have been the ones where he felt the strongest connection with the audience.

More Than Watching a Show

Jesse’s performing style has evolved considerably through the years.

What began as presenting individual tricks gradually became something more personal: creating an experience centered around the audience itself.

That evolution drew Jesse toward mentalism, humor, and audience participation.   Because every group is different, no two performances unfold in quite the same way.

The people in the room aren’t simply watching the magic—they help create it.

Every audience is different.
Every performance should be, too.

For Jesse, fooling an audience is certainly part of the fun.   But it isn’t the most rewarding part.

The real reward is the connection: making people laugh, involving them in the performance, and seeing their reactions when the impossible appears to happen.   For a little while, the outside world disappears and everyone in the room simply enjoys the experience together.

Jesse wants his audiences to leave entertained, amazed, and happy. He wants them laughing during the show and talking afterward about what they experienced.

Most of all, he wants them to feel that they were part of something special.

The best magic doesn’t happen only on the stage.
It happens when the audience becomes part of it.
